BUYER GUIDES / 02

Source cars from China with a clear purchase brief.

An automotive sourcing guide for importers and dealers: compare Chinese car models, check suppliers and prepare a purchase request with the right specifications.

Buyer sign-in is required to submit a request. Availability and quotations need supplier confirmation.

BUYER WORKFLOW

How to source a car from China

  1. Define the vehicle

Record the brand, model year, exact trim, steering side and powertrain. Compare model references before asking a supplier to confirm the actual vehicle.

  2. Check the supplier

Review the public company profile and its current review status. Ask who will sign the vehicle contract and provide the export documents.

  3. Request a comparable quote

Use the same quantity, destination, currency and delivery basis for each supplier. Confirm which costs are included, the quote expiry and the expected lead time.

  4. Confirm the destination requirements

Before committing, verify the proposed vehicle and documents with the relevant destination authority or an independent professional. Ask the supplier to confirm what it can actually provide.

PURCHASE BRIEF

What to include in your car sourcing request

Copy this checklist into your purchase brief. Add your own requirements; a supplier must confirm availability and terms.

  • Brand / model / year / exact trim
  • Quantity and new or used condition
  • Destination country and port
  • Steering side and powertrain
  • Required equipment and documents
  • Budget and quotation currency
  • Requested delivery basis and timing

Start with model research

Compare reference information for Geely, BYD and Zeekr, then ask a supplier about the exact version you need.

MODEL RESEARCH

Research the model. Confirm the supply.

AUTOLINK provides reference information about automotive brands and models in the Chinese market. All content is based on actual public information held by the platform. Missing years, trims or specifications must not be guessed.

01Brands and models
02Available model years
03Energy and body types
04Available trims and technical specifications

Declared brands do not mean manufacturer authorization.

A supplier’s main brands describe its self-declared business or supply scope. They do not automatically indicate official manufacturer authorization. A specific authorization status may be displayed only when the platform has checked the relevant documents and publication is permitted.

REFERENCE / OFFER

01 / RESEARCH

Model reference

Research basic model information and available specifications. This helps define your sourcing direction; it does not indicate that a supplier has the vehicle.

  • Model name and available model year
  • Energy, body type and technical specifications
  • Public version or trim information
Browse brands & models
02 / SUPPLY

Actual vehicle listing

A specific vehicle or supply offer published by a supplier after review. Actual price, inventory and supply terms still need confirmation.

  • A specific vehicle or supply offer
  • Public supply and quotation information
  • The relevant supplier and inquiry entry point
View supplier listings

A model in the catalogue does not confirm these conditions.

  • The vehicle is in stock
  • Every version can be supplied
  • Every country permits import
  • Manufacturer export authorization exists
  • Current prices and inventory are confirmed

BEFORE YOUR INQUIRY

  • 03Powertrain and energy type
  • 04Actual equipment and technical specifications
  • 05New, used or other vehicle condition
  • 06In stock, sourced on demand or pre-order
  • 07Minimum quantity and delivery lead time

Example inquiry brief: enough detail for a comparable quote

This is a formatting example, not an order, stock statement or quotation. Replace the destination, quantity and version with your actual requirements.

CheckDetails to record or verify
Research referenceCopy the brand, model and catalogue ID from the model page; ask the supplier to confirm the local version mapping.
Vehicle scopeSpecify trim, production date/model year, powertrain and steering side. Mark undecided items as “to confirm”.
Purchase and deliveryState quantity, destination country and city/port, required delivery date, proposed trade term and named place.
Evidence requestedAsk for a specification sheet, quotation validity, vehicle condition, available documents and warranty territory.

Before submitting: a catalogue ID is a research reference, not a stock number. An export claim is not evidence of destination registration eligibility.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Car sourcing questions

Can I request a vehicle that has no public listing?

Yes. Sign in to Buyer Center and submit a purchase request. A request describes your needs; supplier responses, availability and quotations depend on actual supply.

Does a model reference show a car available to buy?

No. A model reference supports research. Check a public supplier listing or request confirmation for the exact vehicle, condition, price and delivery terms.

What should I compare besides the car price?

Compare the exact trim and condition, quantity, quotation currency, delivery basis, included costs, required documents, validity and lead time. A lower headline price may cover a different scope.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Brands, models & supply

Compare brands and models first, then check actual public listings. If no suitable offer is available, describe your requirement in Buyer Center.

Sourcing requests use the existing Buyer Center. If signed out, sign in first and return to your request.
